Unnecessary Software

A Short Christmas story

Over Christmas, we sold some desks that we did not need.

One really nice guy who came to collect a desk to help set up his first home office had a great story.

As you do, we chatted about work and business.

He asked me what I did for a living, and I explained that we provide personalised marketing departments for clients.

I was not trying to pitch, but he started to giggle!

He raised his hand and said.

"Sorry, it's not you!"

Whilst giggling, he continued.

"My company spends around £1 million a year on Salesforce to boost sales."

I was shocked at the cost.

"And do you know what?" He continued.

"Everyone in our office only uses the Calendar!"

He went on to say. His Head Office had purchased the system without finding out if it was, in fact, practical.

It had become a standing joke in the company!

It’s Not Uncommon

This may be the largest amount, but companies consistently buy software, thinking it will solve their issues.

In 2024, we will see many more AI products hitting the shelves.

AI and good software are essential, but they are tools.

The route to boosting sales is keeping all your marketing personal and relevant to your ideal clients. And not just getting an AI.

That's why, in 2024, Propria will focus on personal engagement.
